Sex Addiction, Satyrism, Don Juanism, Nymphomania and Polygamy - Salem-News.Com

Sex Addiction, Satyrism, Don Juanism, Nymphomania and Polygamy - Salem-News.Com: "Some 20 years ago the Pharmaceutical houses invented a new disease DEPRESSION and rapidly produced about 12 drugs to CURE this new disease. Today most are sold in the range of $10 to $20 billion per year. They also got the Medical Insurance Companies to pay for them and talked the Veterans Administration into designating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as depression, which it usually is not – it is ANGUISH. The worst part of that scenario is that the PTSD veterans complain that the VA prescribed anti-depressant drugs make them feel like ZOMBIES and they quit taking them and become alcoholics or worse.

Now, with specific regard to “Sex Addition” it is mentioned in the bible in rather hushed terms. I may be castigated by biblical scholars but I’m not afraid of them either. I see a reference to Samuel 12:8 and many prominent biblical men had more than one (several) wives. The names given are Lemech, Abraham, Esau, Jacob, Gideon, and somewhere it seems to say that Solomon had 700 wives. I sort of discount that final statement."

Depression May Worsen Over Time in Addiction-Prone Women

Depression May Worsen Over Time in Addiction-Prone Women: "Depression symptoms increase over time for women in their 30s and 40s who are prone to addiction problems and antisocial behavior, researchers report.

The new study looked at how personal history, family life and neighborhood instability affected alcoholism symptoms in 273 women over a 12-year period during their early years of marriage and motherhood. The participants lived in the U.S. Midwest.

While alcohol problems and antisocial behavior declined over time, depression symptoms increased among the women. The study also found that the women's partner's and children's problems also had an effect on them. For example, women's symptoms and behaviors worsened if their partner also struggled with addiction and antisocial behavior, such as trouble with the law.

And negative behaviors in their children, such as acting out and getting into trouble, tended to increase the mothers' alcohol problems and antisocial behavior. In addition, the mothers' depression increased when children were sad or isolated.

The researchers also found that the women's alcoholism and depression levels were higher if they lived in an unstable neighborhood, where residents frequently moved in and out."

is alcoholism is genetic oriented

The question “is alcoholism is genetic oriented” has not a definite answer. However there are some evidences that it could be. A genetic study shows that some clusters of genetic variation play an important role in alcohol addiction. Alcoholism and genetics related factors are discussed below:
It is shown that all individuals with a family history of alcoholism have some risk of developing the problem of alcoholism. Family history of alcoholism means that either or both the parents had alcoholic problems. Parental alcoholism will be a factor for children to become alcoholics. The risk increases when the child is a boy having novelty seeking personality and impulsive behavior.
A new research shows that alcoholism and genetics have some relationship. The researchers identified a new gene that may be responsible for excessive drinking habit. The scientists used micro array techniques to study the genes expression in the brain which prompts high or low consumption of alcohol. This study gives new room to deal with alcoholism disorders.
Family history of alcoholism seems to have biological dysfunction in individuals who develop stress even before they get into drinking problems while others develop such problems only after the drinking

“What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.”

“What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.” These words are found in what is known in AA as ‘The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous’. The program of Alcoholics Anonymous is a spiritual program based on simple spiritual principles, adopted from the Oxford Christian Group, which Bill W. was a member of prior to the formation of AA.

The Oxford Group addressed life problems concerning poverty, unemployment, and the issues that people were faced with during the Great Depression; however, the group did not properly address the hardships faced by the alcoholic. Hence, spirituality, not religion, is the foundation which recovery is built on; yet many use their religion as the basis of their spirituality.

All addiction treatment facilities use the 12-Step program developed and explained in the Big Book. The steps and the Big Book refer to a ‘Higher Power’, ‘a God of our understanding’, or simply ‘God’ as the gateway towards lasting recovery. It also states that no human power could relieve one of their alcoholism. There is even a chapter on the agnostic, one who doubts that God exists, which states that alcoholism is a disease “. . . which only a spiritual experience will conquer” (Alcoholic Anonymous, 1939).

With that said, it is apparent that religion’s role in addiction recovery is paramount, when the aspect of religion being one’s path to spirituality is recognized. How addiction treatment centers apply religion in their programs could be a stumbling block to lasting recovery.
